Dr. Henderson co-owned and operated two successful restorative and cosmetic dental practices in Southfield and Oak Park, Michigan for 14 years. In 2010, he relocated to the Chicago area with his wife, Dr. Dionne Henderson, and their four children after securing a contract with the Chicago Public School’s Dental Sealant Program.
Dr. Henderson and his wife, Dr. Dionne Henderson founded a mobile dental company called Smiles of Tomorrow in 2009 to provide on-site preventive dental services to children throughout the Chicago area. Smiles of Tomorrow has successfully serviced over 60,000 children in and around Chicago and has fostered numerous community partnerships dedicated to the health and well-being of the area children.
In 2010, Drs. Henderson opened The Smile Boutique in South Holland, IL in response to a need to return to clinical dentistry and provide high-quality dental care to their friends, family, and to the community.
Dr. Michael Henderson particularly enjoys the art of transforming smiles. This includes interceptive and simple orthodontics, including clear aligners, cosmetic dentistry including porcelain laminate veneers, porcelain inlays and onlays, all crown and bridge work, as well as composite resin (tooth-colored) fillings.
Dr. Henderson continues to take advanced dental training in various aspects of dentistry. He has tirelessly worked to be recognized as a generous and compassionate dentist who enjoys giving back to his community.
Dr. Dionne Henderson is a native of the south side of Chicago and moved to South Holland as a teen with her family in 1983.
She was inspired to be a dentist as a child after receiving orthodontic (braces) treatment. She wanted to impact children’s lives as hers was in a positive way through dentistry. She graduated from Kenwood Academy High School in Hyde Park in 1987, and went on to Spelman College in Atlanta, attaining her degree in biology / pre-med in 1991.
Determined to become a dentist, she earned her D.D.S. degree from the University of Michigan in 1995. Since earning her degree, she has worked tirelessly to help children and adults gain access to quality dental care. Together with her husband and partner, she founded a mobile dental company, Smiles of Tomorrow, to overcome many barriers to dentistry for children in underprivileged communities.
She also opened and maintained a clinical practice in the Detroit area for over 14 years, before moving back home to Chicago in 2010. She is excited to be home and to serve her community well.
